RAWALPINDI: A nephew of former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Monday filed a petition in Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench seeking direction to the police to produce his uncle, a brother and two servants in the court after they were arrested on Sunday night.

Sheikh Amir Shafique approached the court through Advocate Sardar Abdul Raziq Khan. He pleaded that his uncle, brother Sheikh Shakir Shaqfique and Sheikh Imran and Sajid, staff members of the former minister, were allegedly picked up by the SSP operations along with the SHOs of Civil Lines, Waris Khan, New Town, Westridge and people in civvies.

He said the police were not telling anything about their whereabouts. On the other hand, former MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafique said the ex-interior minister had not been produced in any court even after more than 24 hours nor his relatives were informed about his whereabouts.

He said his brother had filed the petition in the LHC which had been fixed for Tuesday. He said his uncle and he himself had already been facing cases and if there was any new case against Sheikh Rashid he should be produced in the court.
