KARACHI: Rangers, police and Customs officials have recovered a huge quantity of smuggled goods in a joint raid on a warehouse near the bus terminal in Yousaf Goth, Saeedabad.

DIG-South Syed Asad Raza said that acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers conducted a raid on a godown in Saeedabad, which was full of non-custom-paid goods, including milk powder, dry fruits, black pepper, electronic items, tyres, plastic material, tea, cardamoms and Irani rexine.

“All the things found were in a huge quantity, about five or six truckloads. A Customs intelligence team was called at the location for handling the goods,” added the South police chief.

Separately, a Rangers spokesperson said the goods had been handed over to the Customs for further legal action.

They said two armed bike riders were looting citizens at Habib Bank Chowrangi when a police patrol reached there. The outlaws resorted to firing and in an ensuing encounter they suffered bullet wounds but managed to escape. The police chased them and arrested one of them near Banaras Chowk. He was taken to a hospital where he died.
