KARACHI: Raahim Veqar, Mahateer Mohammad and Ahtisham Humayun advanced into the boys Under-18 semi-finals of the Shamsi Academy National Juniors Tennis Championship after winning their respective matches here at the DA Creek Club on Wednesday.
Raahim hammered Rayan Ahmed 6-2, 6-2 while Ahtisham Humayun also progressed into the last-four with the same score. In the other quarter-final, Mahateer routed Taimoor Ansari 6-1, 6-2 before rain interrupted the day’s play.
Mahateer, earlier, also booked a berth in the men’s semi-final as he downed Parbat Kumar 6-2 and Zubair Raja also qualified after getting a walk over victory against Farhan Altaf in their last-eight match.
Meanwhile, women’s singles first round matches were also played on Wednesday with Daliah Shazim, Alizeh Pirzada and Wania Bhagat registering comfortable victories.

Boys U-14 singles: Muzammil Khan bt Laraib Shamsi 6-3, 6-3; Ali Bachani bt Ansarullah 4-2, 4-0; Hazik Areejo bt Hadi Mehmood 4-0, 4-1.
Boys U-12 singles: Zain Nomi bt Emre Shazim 4-1, 4-1
Men’s doubles: Ahsan Siddiq/Kashan Tariq bt Zubair Raja/Asim Gul 8-6; Nameer Shamsi/Baqir Ali bt Syed Qutub/Amir Mumtaz 8-3.
