MARDAN: An anti-terrorism court here on Thursday confirmed bail before arrest (BBA) of 124 workers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in the May 9 riots case.
The court was presided over by Judge Syed Ubaidullah Shah. Lawyers Riaz Khan Paindakhel, Jawad Ali and Islam Khan Wardeg represented the PTI workers in the court.
After completion of the arguments from both sides, the ATC confirmed BBA of 124 PTI workers. The court rejected the bail pleas of two PTI activists. The bail application of PTI worker Haroon was dismissed after hearing of arguments while the other worker identified as Farhad was absent on the occasion.
The PTI workers, whose bail applications were accepted, also included former lawmakers Zahir Shah Toru, Abdus Salam Afridi, Tufail Anjum and Iftikhar Ali Mashwani.
KILLED: The son of former MNA of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl Maulana Shujaul Mulk allegedly shot dead a relative over a property dispute in Toru Suwaryan area here on Thursday.
The widow of the deceased told police that she along with her husband, Waqarul Mulk, was coming home from the clinic of a doctor when the alleged killer identified as Manzar opened firing on him and killed him on the spot. She said that she remained unhurt in the attack.
She told police that a dispute over a piece of land was cause of murder.
Toru police station registered FIR on the complaint of the widow of the deceased against Manzar. Police said that they began investigations into the incident as well as accelerated efforts to arrest the suspect, who managed to escape after committing the crime.
