SUKKUR: Four persons, who were among the many who had sustained different degrees of burns in an LPG cylinder blast and subsequent fire at a shop last Friday, succumbed to their injuries on Monday, raising the death toll in the incident to seven.
Three of the victims had died on Saturday as they were trapped in flames inside the shop, located in the Denters-Painters Colony of the city, and had suffered critical burn injuries.
The six other victims, who were hit by cylinder’s splinters and also caught in fire outside the shop, were referred to the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) and a major hospital in Karachi.
Reports reaching here from the hospitals said that two of the injured victims, Mr Burhan and Kamran Manganhar, died during treatment at GIMS; and two others, Amjad Channa and Liaquat Jamali, succumbed to their injuries in the Karachi hospital on Monday.
According to sources, the number of injured persons is said to be higher as some more victims of the incident were reportedly under treatment at different hospitals in Sukkur and Karachi.
The gas cylinder had exploded while it was being refilled in the shop near the city’s bus terminal.
