PESHAWAR: The Shabqadar police on Wednesday foiled an attempt to smuggle arms and ammunition concealed in hidden compartments of a car and arrested two individuals.

Charsadda district police officer Mohammad Arif led the action.

The police recovered six Kalashnikovs, seven handguns, four rifles, one M4, 15 pistols, 56 magazines and 14,500 cartridges of different bores from the vehicle.

The arrested individuals, Bilal and Anar Gul, are residents of Peshawar. They were attempting to smuggle weapons from Peshawar to Mansehra. A case was registered against the suspects at the Shabqadar police station.
