TAXILA: The railway traffic for Rawalpindi-Peshawar section was halted for approximately three hours after a bogie of a Peshawar-bound freight train derailed near Hassanabdal on Wednesday, railway authorities said.

According to railway sources, the bogie derailed in Ghreeshen area near Faqeerabad railway station causing suspension of train traffic on the Rawalpindi-Peshawar section.

The maintenance staff reached the spot and the bogie was put on track after necessary maintenance.

The railway authorities ruled out any sabotage activity and termed the derailment of the bogie as a technical fault in the wheel and no loss or injury was reported. Later, the rail traffic was restored.

Due to the derailment, the Quetta-bound Jaffar Express coming from Peshawar was halted at Attock railway station while Multan-bound Thall Express coming from Rawalpindi via Attock railway station was stopped at Hassanabdal railway station.
