ISLAMABAD: An eight-member gang of robbers looted cash and valuables worth over Rs1 million from a house in Sara-i-Kharboza while criminals injured two persons, police said on Saturday.

Two persons first entered the house of Hafiz Akhtar Mughal after scaling the wall. They were followed by six more suspects. The eight robbers held the family at gunpoint and detained them in a room.

Three gunmen remained with the family, two left for the main gate to keep guard while three ransacked the house, taking away a motorcycle, Rs30,000 cash, two gold sets and mobile phones.

Meanwhile, a man was beaten up by armed men during a robbery.

Three motorcycle riders intercepted Karimullah in Sara-i-Kharboza when he was returning home, the police said, adding that the armed riders started beating him with pistol butts and then snatched cash from him and escaped. The injured was shifted to a hospital and a case registered with Sangjani police.

In another incident, Mohammad Dad Kiani was heading home when he was stopped by two motorcyclists. The armed men snatched his motorcycle and mobile phone. Mr Kiani and a passerby chased the robbers, who opened fire on them as a result of which the passerby, Mohammad Arsalan, sustained a bullet injury.
