SARGODHA: A murder case convict vanished from court immediately after hearing the judgment of his conviction on Monday.

The district police officer has ordered an investigation.

The Laksian police had registered a case under sections 149, 148 and 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on Sept 11, 2018, against Nawaz and his accomplices Bilal, Ansar, Safdar, and Zulfiqar for killing Shakeel Ahmed due to an enmity.

The accused secured their bail from the court. They appeared in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Asif who handed down the death penalty to Nawaz and acquitted Bilal, Ansar, Safdar, and Zulfikar, giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Nawaz disappeared from the court after hearing the judgment.

LHW INJURED: Lady health worker Shehnaz Bibi suffered a leg injury when a guard’s gun went off accidentally while receiving a vaccination kit on the first day of the anti-polio campaign at Botala Basic Health Centre in Khushab on Monday.

Initially, she was shifted to the Jauharabad Civil Hospital but was later referred to Lahore for medical aid in critical condition. Guard Muhammad Azam was arrested, and his weapon was seized by the police.

SANDAL EXPRESS: Steps have been finalised to reactivate the Sandal Express from Sargodha to Multan from Oct 15, sources say.

In this regard, the top Railway boss is scheduled to visit Sargodha, Shaheenabad, and Malkwal railway stations on Oct 5. The restoration of the Sandal Express running between Jhang and Multan will also be announced.

This affordable and convenient travel option, previously unavailable to passengers from ‘Abdul Hakeem’ Khanewal and other cities, has now been promised to be included in the new timetable from Oct 15.

An announcement will be made to extend the route of the Chenab Express running between Sargodha and Lala Musa and run it twice a day.

COURT: Civil Judge Naveed Iqbal Tarar issued an injunction in a civil suit filed by Muhammad Alamgir against Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries (SCSTSI) President Dr Imtiaz Ahmed, Senior Vice President Inamullah Zafar and Secretary Muhammad Adnan.

The judge directed them to submit their reply by Oct 7.

The judge has prohibited the president of SCSTSI from taking any unconstitutional action. The plaintiff argued that the meeting of the general body of SCSTSI was called illegally because it is necessary to give a gap of at least 21 days for calling such a meeting. However, this meeting was convened in violation of the rules.
