LAHORE: Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) claimed on Wednesday to have registered an electricity theft case against PML-N aspirant for Punjab Assembly Malik Abid Hussain Bara during its ongoing campaign in Jati Umra subdivision.

The Lesco spokesman claimed that Jati Umra SDO Muhammad Azam along with his staff conducted a search operation and found Malik Abid Hussain Bara stealing electricity from direct supply for his house, spanning over two kanal of area, and two shops in an adjoining commercial market.

The Lesco team disconnected the illegal power supply and charged Rs375,170 as detection bill to Abid Bara, besides registration of an FIR against him.

In another case, a Lesco Anarkali subdivision team detected power pilferage by the management of Master Biryani located on The Mall. The owner of Master Biryani was stealing electricity by installing a bogus power meter, the spokesman said.

He added that Lesco seized the bogus meter and wires used in the power theft and received a detection bill of Rs 01 million from the suspect.

A case has also been registered against the accused.

The Lesco also detected a total of 451 connections from where the customers were pilfering electricity in all its circles of five districts including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Okara on the 27th day of the campaign.
