NAWABSHAH, Feb 8: Strict security arrangements have been made for Ashura in the Nawabshah city. District Police Officer Ghulam Sarwar Jamali told newsmen here on Wednesday that heavy contingents of police were deployed at various points of the district to avoid any untoward incident.

He said the Indus Rangers would also look after the security in the city.

Activists of the MQM have set up four medical camps at different places for Azadaran.

MQM’s zonal organizer Anwar Saleem Khanzada said that Amn committees were also constituted for guidance of the processions.

The main procession will start from Murtazvi Imam Bargah in the Mohni Bazar on Thursday at 11am.

JOURNALISTS: Members of the Nawabshah press club through a unanimous resolution condemned publication of blasphemous cartoons published in Danish, Norwegian and French newspapers.

A general body meeting of the Nawabshah press club was held on Wednesday in which the members said they did not believe in the kind of press freedom where sentiments of millions of Muslims were hurt.

The meeting said that issues such as integrity and religion must be handled with care as freedom of press had its boundaries.

They believed that unbridled freedom could lead to chaos and sufferings for everyone.

The meeting said reproduction of the cartoons was ‘irresponsible’ behaviour of the press.

The members demanded from ambassadors and press of Norway, Denmark and France to discourage such trends in future.
