KOHAT, Feb 8: District Nazim Gohar Saifullah has asked NGOs and donor agencies to submit reports about work undertaken in different sectors over the past years. He urged the NGOs to keep a close contact with the district government for making collective efforts for addressing social issues and to concentrate on underdeveloped and neglected areas.

Speaking at a meeting of the representatives of 30 local and 11 national and international NGOs here on Tuesday, the district nazim said that the NGOs should cut their non-development expenditure, which, he said, they spent on huge salary bills and hiring bungalows in posh localities.

He expressed the hope that they would address the real issues which the people were confronted with in underdeveloped areas.

He also assured that the district government would provide every help to NGOs, especially if they wanted to invest in education, health and vocational sectors.

He constituted the district coordination council comprising local social organisations and donor agencies and assigned them the task to devise a joint strategy for the development of the area.

Shazia Khattak, district social welfare officer, briefed the district nazim about the activities of the NGOs in different sectors.

She appointed Ziaullah Bangash as president of the council with the consent of the district nazim and Rafiul Islam as its secretary general.

Members of 14 social organisatins were adjusted in the executive body, whereas Waheed Gul Bangash was named as district coordinator and Abdul Mannan as cheif patron.
