Gujranwala DBA to hold protest rally

GUJRANWALA, Feb 8: The district bar association will hold a rally on Feb 11 to protest against some European countries for blasphemous cartoons published by some newspapers.

This was stated by bar president Ilyas Rehan in a press release issued here on Wednesday.

He said that bar had already demonstrated and took out a procession to protest against the act of sacrilege, while it decided at a meeting to hold a rally after 10th of Muharram.

He appealed to lawyers to participate in the rally.

POTABLE WATER: Qila Dedar Singh town administration will provide potable water to the people following installation of filter plants and opposition will be consulted regarding uplift schemes.

This was stated by Town Nazim Mian Tariq Javed at the first meeting of the town council on Wednesday.

He said more uplift funds would be sought from the Punjab government. He also sought opposition members’ cooperation for completion of the ongoing uplift projects.

The meeting was presided over by town naib nazim and convener Tariq Javed Butt, while District Naib Nazim Jamal Hassan Manj, former MPA Mian Mazher Javed and UC nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Afzel Mehr also participated in it.

LHC BENCH: A single bench of the Lahore High Court suspended an election tribunal order for recounting of votes at two polling stations of Ghakkhar Town on Tuesday and issued notices to the defeated nazim and naib nazim candidates for Feb 10.
