TOBA TEK SINGH: A murder suspect in custody was killed and an assistant sub-inspector and a constable were injured during an ‘encounter’ near Chak 237-RB Khaddian Warraichan in Faisalabad Saddar police area on Saturday.

According to the police, a day earlier, two rival groups led by Ahad Shah and Imran had exchanged gunfire. As a result, a young man, Adnan, was struck by bullets and lost his life. When the police conducted a raid on Saturday to arrest Ahad Shah in connection with Adnan’s murder, his accomplices attacked the police party.

This led to serious injuries to ASI Haq Nawaz, constable Shakil Ahmad, and the arrested suspect Ahad Shah. Ahad Shah succumbed to his injuries while the ASI and the constable were rushed to the Allied hospital.

A police spokesperson said Ahad Shah had been hit by bullets fired by his own accomplices. The police have taken some suspects into custody and are raiding to arrest the remaining ones.

BANK ROBBERY: Civil Lines police registered a case of bank robbery on Saturday against five armed men who had looted the Alfalah bank branch located in Jamia Chishtia Chowk near the general bus stand in Faisalabad on Friday afternoon.

The complainant, manager Rana Qamar Abbas, stated in his first information report filed under section 395 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), that five suspects aged between 30 and 45 years entered the branch and held the security guards and bank staff hostage at gunpoint.

He said the suspects escaped with cash amounting to Rs12.6 million and also forcibly took Rs100,000 from a customer.

Meanwhile, Faisalabad CPO Usman Akram Gondal issued orders on Saturday for the SSP operation to investigate threats made via telephone to DSP investigation Ms Naseem Akhtar.

Ms. Akhtar had got an FIR lodged on Friday night under sections 506 of PPC and 25D of The Telegraph Act, with Razabad police station.

She said an unidentified man had called her on her mobile phone on Friday, threatening to harm her and her children, as well as to detonate a bomb at the Civil Lines police station.
