NAWABSHAH: The local chapter of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat (SAS) on Sunday organised a rally against uncontrolled lawlessness in the province and inefficiency of police.

Led by SAS Nawabshah secretary general Taj Joyo, Bakhshal Baghi, Sattar Sunder and others, the protesters started their march from Shiraz Chowk and converged on the local press club, where they held a demonstration.

The leaders told the media that the Sindh police had utterly failed to ensure safety and security of citizens and apprehend criminals.

They pointed out that senior journalist Jan Mohammed Mahar was killed on Aug 14 but the police could not reach the culprits till date. Similarly, they said, killers of four residents of Mari Jalbani village were still at large, Professor Notan Lal and a Hindu woman abducted many days ago could not be recovered and the family of Fatima Furiro, a housemaid allegedly tortured to death by someone belonging to a revered family, was also waiting for justice.

The rally participants also demanded expulsion of all Afghan nationals from Sindh.
