ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday demolished two settlements of Afghans in I-12/2 and Margalla Town Phase 2.

A press release issued by the civic body on Wednesday stated that the CDA’s enforcement directorate conducted an operation against the illegal settlements built near Nust.

The CDA staff razed scores of rooms and a number of livestock farms with heavy machinery. As a result of the operation, land measuring 250 kanals was retrieved, which was later handed over for sector development.

Besides, another operation with the assistance of police and the local administration was conducted in Margalla Town Phase 2.

The settlement was established there long ago and dozens of houses and livestock farms were razed during the operation and state land retrieved.

Another operation was conducted at Mandi Mor in response to a complaint against encroachment. During the operation, encroachments were removed from both sides of the roads.

Meanwhile, the capital police arrested four more ‘illegal’ Afghan immigrants from different places and registered separate cases against them under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act.

Aabpara police arrested four ‘illegal’ immigrants from Aabpara Chowk after they failed to produce any legal traveling documents. Similarly, Shalimar police arrested an ‘illegal’ Afghan immigrant from F-10/2 for lacking necessary documents.
