MAKRAN is one of the major divisions in Balochistan. However, the inhabitants of the division are constantly facing a miserable situation, especially when it comes to electricity. The power supply remains erratic and unreliable.

There have been reports that Iran has reduced its electricity supply to Pakistan. Is there an agreement between the two countries that allows Iran to turn off the electricity supply whenever it wants? Is Pakistan buying this electricity, or is it being given by Iran as charity? If Iran is short of electricity, why does it provide an additional 100MW of electricity to Pakistan?

The interruption of power supply from Iran to Makran has made life miserable for millions of people. Apathy will only increases the already prevailing sense of deprivation among the people of Balochistan.

Will somebody in the provincial or federal government look into the issue?
