ISLAMABAD: As the ECP’s deadline of Oct 25 for the registration of voters and changes in the voters’ profile draws near, the commission has once again reminded people to reach relevant district election offices and get themselves registered as voters or in case they seek any change in the voters’ lists.
In an official press release issued on Sunday, ECP appealed to the people to register as voters or update their addresses by Oct 25 as no registration of vote or changes in voters lists will be allowed after the deadline.
Earlier, the ECP had finalised electoral rolls on July 20, but then allowed a month’s time, from Sept 28 to Oct 25, to allow citizens to register as voters or amend, if they wanted, their data in voters’ lists.
The commission has also announced that it has received the data of over 800,000 people whose Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) have recently been made by Nadra.
It added that names of all people whose CNICs will be issued before the ECP’s cut-off date — Oct 25 — will be accommodated in the lists.
No voter will be registered on the third address. However, the facility will be given to government officials who have been posted at stations other than their home towns.
According to ECP’s Media Outreach and Coordination Wing, the electoral rolls were finalised under Section 39 of the Elections Act, 2017, on July 20. But later, the commission allowed citizens more time to change their details.
