LOWER DIR: Jamaat-i-Islami arranged a rally here the other day to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine.

JI Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan led the participants, who gathered at the Gorgorai Chowk. The participants were carrying banners and placards inscribed slogans against Israel and the US.

On the occasion, Senator Mushtaq, JI district chief Izazul Mulk Afkari and others said the Israeli forces had besieged Gaza from all directions and white phosphorus was being used against the unarmed Palestinians, killing innocent children and women, who had nothing to do with the war.

Senator Mushtaq said so far 8,000 bombs had been dropped upon the innocent Palestinians, killing thousands of civilians, most of them children, women and elderly.

CONVENTION: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz provincial president Amir Muqam has made it clear the next elected government would decide the imposition of taxes in Malakand division.

He was addressing a workers’ convention held in Ouch area the other day.

Mr Muqam said the previous federal government had extended the date for imposing taxes in Malakand, and the caretaker government had no authority to reverse the decision.
