TOBA TEK SINGH: An anti-smuggling wing team from Faisalabad Customs Collectorate seized smuggled goods worth Rs90 million from a warehouse in Faisalabad’s Awagat area.

The recovered items included 1,100 used heavy-duty vehicle tires and six non-custom-paid cars. These illegal goods were concealed beneath coal-laden containers during transportation to Faisalabad. The owner of the warehouse and his accomplices fled the scene.

ANF: Faisalabad’s Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) officials made a seizure on Friday, recovering 335 grams of ice heroin from a passenger at Faisalabad airport. ANF officials said Muhammad Talha of Gujranwala was planning to travel to Bahrain and had concealed the heroin within his clothing.

The ANF arrested the suspect.

CYBER SECURITY: Speakers at a Government College University of Faisalabad seminar addressed the increasing threat of cyber attacks in Pakistan and worldwide, which pose significant risks to business growth and development.

Vice Chancellor Dr Nasir Amin expressed concern about the alarming rise in cyber crimes, saying there was a need to protect sensitive information to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.

SEMINAR: The Institute of Home Sciences at the University of Agriculture of Faisalabd, in collaboration with Al Shifa International Hospital, organised an awareness seminar on women’s health. Gynaecologist Dr Shaista Talib said there is need to raise awareness about breast cancer and cervical cancer, leading causes of women’s deaths. She said early detection and treatment to combat breast cancer can defeat them.

Other speakers urged for simplifying daily diets and considering nutritional aspects in response to the rising prevalence of diseases.

DRUG ADDICTION: To protect the younger generation from drug addiction, it is crucial to raise awareness and keep them away from this scourge.

Muhammad Anwar Khan, the general secretary of Allied Hospital’s anti-narcotics organisation, said this during a seminar at the National Textile University.

Speakers highlighted that for a brighter future, young people should steer clear of addiction, which can lead to degradation. They emphasized the teachings of Islam, which advise against addiction and encouraged students to focus on acquiring knowledge while staying away from harmful vices.

The speakers stressed the need for ongoing seminars, talks, and informational programs to make people aware of the dangers of addiction.
