CHITRAL: Commandant Chitral Scouts Colonel Bilal Javed and Lower Chitral deputy commissioner Mohammad Ali Khan have said the command and control system set up in the police lines here has helped curb the incidence of thefts and robberies in the city.
The officers visited the police lines here on Saturday, where district police officer Ikramullah Khan briefed them about the functioning of the command and control system and citizens facilitation centre.
The DPO said the command and control system was an initiative of the district police, which had also made the field force to be vigilant as their performance was directly monitored from the control room.
He said services like issuance of driving licence and character certificates were made available on emergency basis in the citizen facilitation centre, which also included a women reporting desk manned by women staff round the clock.
DPO Ikramullah said due to the reporting desk and the posting of women staff there, the rate of suicides among women folk had greatly decreased as the distressed women had found a place of solace here.
Earlier, upon their arrival at the police lines, the commandant Chitral Scouts and the deputy commissioner were given a guard of honour by a smart contingent of police. Later, they laid a floral wreath on the Yadgaar-i-Shuhada on the premises of the police lines.
The visiting officers also addressed the jawans of the force and lauded the sacrifices of Chitral police during the war on terror.
