CHITRAL: Pakistan Peoples Party, Lower Chitral president Sharif Hussain has terminated the party’s basic membership of Drosh tehsil council chairman Shahzada Khalid Pervaiz for his ‘intensions’ to join Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-Parliamentarian led by Pervez Khattak.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he regretted that Mr Pervaiz had been elected as the tehsil council chairman on the PPP ticket, and had also been nominated for the provincial assembly seat of PK-2, Lower Chitral, for the forthcoming general elections. However, he said Mr Pervaiz had betrayed the PPP by joining the splinter group of PTI, where he had reportedly been promised party ticket in the general elections for the provincial assembly.
Mr Sharif said the district cabinet had authorised him to expel Mr Pervaiz from the party as he was also trying to win over the PPP workers to join PTI-P.
He said a reference would shortly be sent to Election Commission of Pakistan for de-notification of Shahzada Pervaiz as Drosh tehsil chairman for floor crossing.
Meanwhile, Mr Pervaiz denied joining the party of Pervez Khattak.
Talking to Dawn, he said that no one could prove the allegation against him, and that he was still in PPP.
