RAWALPINDI: Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was discharged from Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) on Tuesday after a day stay in the hospital while the doctors recommended bed rest for a week.

According to family sources, all the pathological tests of the former minister were cleared, but his heartbeat was not normal, and the doctors prescribed medicines and recommended bed rest for a week.

He was admitted to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) on Monday after complaints of chest pain and breathing problems.

A family member of Mr Ahmed informed that the former interior minister had gone to meet his lawyer, Abdul Razzaq Advocate, in the Saddar area, where he felt pain in his chest.

He was rushed to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, where senior doctors checked him and admitted him for two days. Mr Ahmed’s condition has improved since then, the sources said, adding that he has been a heart patient for the last many years.
