ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad on Tuesday extended the judicial remand of PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi till Nov 21 in the Judicial Complex attack case.
The court directed the prosecution to share copies of the challan in this case with the suspects.
Talking to the media outside the courtroom, Mr Elahi sarcastically equated former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his younger brother Shehbaz Sharif with Nelson Mandela, saying both Mandelas have arrived in Islamabad.
He also criticised Mr Sharif over his failure to check skyrocketing inflation during his party rule.
IHC rejects request for interim relief to Imran in cipher case
Meanwhile, the IHC division bench hearing an intra-court appeal against the jail trial of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan removed objections raised by the registrar’s office.
The bench, comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz, referred the file to the chief justice of IHC for entrustment of the case to any available bench.
When the counsel requested the court to issue a stay order against the ongoing trial of Mr Khan in the cipher case, Justice Aurangzeb said the court could not pass any order for the interim relief at this stage.
