LAHORE: The registration window for foreign players has opened for the upcoming season of HBL Pakistan Super League, which is tentatively scheduled to be held from Feb 8 to March 24.

According to a press release issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday, the category renewals of local players will be finalised and published shortly as well. Following the category renewals, the trade and retention window will be open. Once the trade and retention window is opened, the pick order for player draft for the upcoming season will also be shared.

The retention and trades are to be finalised ahead of the PSL 9 Player Draft, which has been tentatively scheduled for mid-December, after the completion of the National T20 whose final is set to be held on Dec 10 in Karachi.

The previous PSL season was won by Lahore Qalandars, who defeated Multan Sultans in the final at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore to become the first team to clinch two successive PSL titles.

Islamabad United ended the season in third place while Peshawar Zalmi came fourth. Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
