ISLAMABAD: Speakers at a seminar underscored the need for educating law enforcement agencies about human rights standards and bolstering transparency as key steps towards safeguarding the rights of minorities in Pakistan.

The seminar on ‘Developing Guidelines for Minority-Friendly Law Enforcement in Pakistan’ was jointly organised by the Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights (PCHR) and the National Police Bureau (NPB) with support from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).

The day-long workshop was attended by the Federal Minister Khalil George and it served not only as a platform for critique but also for proposing measures for a more equitable and inclusive Pakistan.

Mr George stated that the government recognised the integral role of minorities in the diverse Pakistani society.

He further emphasised the urgent need for a more inclusive and just Pakistan, where every citizen, regardless of their background, enjoyed dignity and security under the law.
