SUKKUR: More than 6,000 criminals, including absconders, have been arrested within the last 27 days in Larkana division, according to DIG Javed Soonharo Jiskani.

Speaking to Dawn over phone, he said raids had been conducted on various places in all five districts of the division to apprehend absconders, criminals and other suspects under directives of the Sindh IGP.

He claimed the number of arrest within the short period of time was a record in the history of Sindh police.

Giving a district-wise break-up of the figure, DIG Jiskani said all SSPs of the Larkana police range had been asked to expedite action against criminals and take all possible measure to restore peace in the region.

He also warned of departmental action against those police official who were found involved in any illegal activity.
