CHITRAL: The 14-year-old blood feud has been resolved amicably between two families in Terich valley as a result of hectic efforts of reconciliation carried by the Lower Chitral deputy commissioner.

The feud had started with the murder of a minor boy 14 years ago who was sentenced to death by the high court and his appeal was being heard by the Supreme Court. A villager told Dawn that DC Mohammad Ali Khan started reconciliation when he came to know that a 10-year-old boy was left alone in the family of the murderer when his elder brother died in a road accident.

He said as a result of many rounds of reconciliation between the families spanning over two years, the heirs of the slain boy pardoned the rivals and withdrew the case.

A formal ceremony was held in which the relatives of both the families embraced with each other when the convicted person reached after being released from the prison.

DC Lower Chitral Mohammad Ali Khan told Dawn that he also managed diyat money for the heirs of the murdered victim.

He said now the minor boy will be able to avail the patronage of his father as his mother had already died.
