RAWALPINDI: The bodies of two men, who separately went missing in Rawalpindi and Islamabad a few days ago, were found on Monday.

Police in Rawalpindi said Shafiq Hussain, who was in his 40s, went missing after leaving home along with his friend. His body was found in a well at Kallar Syedan.

The body of another man who disappeared five days ago was found stuffed in a sack in a wooded area of Islamabad.

Waheed Hussain, a resident of Kallar Syedan, lodged an FIR with the Rawalpindi police on Saturday stating that his brother had been missing since Friday night. He said Shafiq had left home to drop his friend Zahid Ilyas on his motorcycle at the latter’s house but did not return.

He said he and his relatives went to the house of Ilyas to inquire about Shafiq’s whereabouts but they were told hat he had gone to Sialkot early in the morning.

The complaint said he tried to contact Ilyas on his mobile phone, but it was found switched off. Later, police found Shafiq’s motorcycle abandoned in the area.

A police spokesman said the body of the victim was recovered from a well. Initial police investigation showed that the deceased was murdered with a sharp-edged weapon. The body was shifted to hospital for postmortem.

In Islamabad, some passersby spotted a sack from which foul smell was emitting lying in the wooded area at Sara-i-Kharbooza. They informed the police who reached the spot and recovered a mutilated body from the sack.

The body was shifted to hospital for legal procedure. The police found the CNIC of the victim on his body which led to his identification as Gul Wali Khan.

The police later traced and contacted the deceased’s family and informed them about the incident. In response, Azaz Khan, son of the deceased, reached the hospital and identified the body too.

He told police that they were natives of Swabi and residing at New Cahkra in Rawalpindi along with his family and owned a spare-parts shop near Sangjani Toll Plaza.

Five days ago, Gul had left the house after taking dinner, but did not return.

The police said the body seemed to be four to five days old.

The hands and legs of the deceased were tied. The police suspected that Wali was murdered somewhere else and his body was dumped in the wooded area of the capital.

As the body was mutilated, the cause of death would be established through an autopsy. The police registered a murder case against unidentified killer(s) in response to the complaint lodged by the deceased’s son.

Policeman shot, injured

Police said occupants of the car opened fire after they were signaled to stop at a checkpoint.

The injured constable, identified as Shahid Qamar, was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital where his condition was stated to be out of danger.
