SWABI: Body of a 22-year-old youth, who was allegedly killed by his friends, was recovered from the service road of Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway in Chota Lahor tehsil here on Tuesday, the police said.
SHO Chota Lahor city police station Liaqat Shah told Dawn that the deceased was shot in the head and chest from a close range.
He said the police were informed about the presence of the body by locals.
He said the police, after collecting the body shared its picture on social media to reach the family. He said soon his family contacted them from Nowshera district, and collected the body from the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
Shaukat Khan, father of the deceased, told the police that Aamir Khan and Jabran Khan, two brothers, were friends of his son. He said the brothers were involved in car lifting.
He said after their friendship strained over some issue, they brought his son to Chota Lahor under a well-planned strategy and then killed him.
SHO Liaqat said they had arrested Jabran during a raid on his house in Akora Khattak, Nowshera, but his brother escaped.
Meanwhile, the police arrested a fraudster here on Tuesday.
SP investigations Khankhel Khan told mediapersons that Asadullah, an official at a mobile phone company, reported to the police that four motorcyclists had taken away Rs216,000 cash, a cell phone, two identity cards, ATM cards and other documents from him at gunpoint.
However, the SP said later it turned out that the man had collected money from different franchises, and later faked the robbery incident to deceive them.
In another incident, unidentified persons looted Pakistani and foreign currency and gold jewellery from a house in Bamkhel village on Monday night, Swabi city police officials told Dawn on Tuesday.
They said Noorul Basar Bamkhel, got registered an FIR, stating that unknown persons took away 760 Saudi riyals, 230 UAE dirhams, Rs45,000, five tola gold ornaments and various bonds from his house. He said the theft took place when they were away staying with a relative.
The police registered an FIR and started further investigations.
