RAWALPINDI: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and district administration will complete rehabilitation work on the Sports Complex by next month.

Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha was informed about this during his visit to the Sports Complex in Liaquat Bagh on Friday where he reviewed the ongoing development work. PHA Director General Ahmed Hasan Ranjha, Divisional Sports Officer Waheed Ahmed and other relevant officials were also present on the occasion.

The commissioner said rehabilitation of the Sports Complex was a welcome step as it would provide quality sports opportunities to the youth, adding that a swimming pool was under construction in the Sports Complex at the cost of Rs98.2 million as well as a hostel for players.

He said badminton, squash and table tennis playing areas were fully functional and directed that the pool should be also be made functional in December.

Mr Chattha said promotion of sports was one of the government’s top priorities and the sports department was playing an important role in promoting sports and engaging youth in healthy activities.
