QUETTA: Balochistan Health Secretary Abdullah Khan has said that the provincial government is making a strategy for the prevention and treatment of Congo virus.

While visiting the Civil Hospital on Friday, the health secretary said he was monitoring the virus situation and treatment facilities in hospitals to prevent its possible spread.

He said an isolation ward has been established to treat those infected with the virus, adding that doctors, medical staff and patients had been informed about the preventive measures against Congo virus.

He vowed that strict implementation of SOPs would be ensured to control the spread of Congo virus, adding that the health department’s monitoring mechanism was being made effective to continuously review the situation.

The global recommendations to prevent infectious diseases in hospitals should be implemented, the secretary said. According to the official, the Balochistan caretaker chief minister, health minister and chief secretary were also committed to the success of his department’s strategy to prevent the spread of virus and ensure provision of the best treatment to patients.
