The Israeli military has said its air defences intercepted a drone flying towards Israel from Lebanon while it was over Lebanese territory, adding it had also responded with artillery to sources of fire coming from Lebanon, Reuters reports.

The Lebanese group Hezbollah, which has been exchanging fire with Israeli forces at the border for a month, said it had targeted three Israeli positions at the border using guided missiles and other weapons.

The Israeli army said the drone was identified as flying from deep inside Lebanon toward Israel.

“The UAV was tracked by detection and control systems and was successfully intercepted by the IDF Aerial Defense Array over Lebanon,” it said.
