LAHORE: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) teams disconnected 112 gas connections on account of gas pilferage and other violations on Sunday. The teams also imposed fines amounting to Rs3.52 million on the gas pilferers.

In Lahore, the regional team disconnected 11 connections, followed by Bahawalpur, where four connections were removed. In Multan, the company disconnected two connections due to illegal gas use and another one for the use of a compressor.

The team in Gujranwala disconnected connections on the grounds of illegal gas use, along with two on the use of compressors. In Sahiwal, four connections were disconnected due to illegal gas use, and one for compressor use. In Faisalabad, seven underbilling cases were processed, and one connection was disconnected for illegal gas use.

In Sheikhupura, the team disconnected 27 connections due to illegal gas use.

LESCO: Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has dismissed a meter reader from service after he was proven guilty of conniving in electricity theft in Sheranwala Sub-Division.

The company’s spokesman said on Sunday that during a recent operation, meter reader Muhammad Naeem was dismissed from his service after being found guilty of facilitating a consumer in electricity theft by placing a shunt on the respective power meter in the area of Sheranwala Gate.

Meanwhile, Lesco College Road Sub-Division conducted a search operation and found power theft at 10 houses in Bheer village, Johar Town. The owners of the houses were found stealing electricity by hooking onto the main transmission line. The team also took into custody all the four meters installed there and submitted an application to the local police for the registration of cases against the accused.
