KARACHI: Two Pakistan Peoples Party leaders on Monday criticised the freezing of funds for development projects in Sindh by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and caretaker governments.

Speaking at a press conference at the media cell of Bilawal House, former provincial ministers Sharjeel Memon and Saeed Ghani said that development projects should not be stopped at all as neither the ECP nor the caretakers had such powers.

They said that due to the freezing of development projects, the hardships of the people were increasing.

Mr Memon and Mr Ghani said that the PPP would sweep the upcoming general elections across the country, as the results of Sunday’s by-elections of local government had proved that the people of Karachi were only with the PPP.

They strongly condemned the ongoing atrocities and barbarism in Gaza by Israel and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people.
