LAHORE: In a bid to reduce smog, joint teams of various departments concerned impounded over 3,800 vehicles for releasing smoke and imposed fines amounting to Rs20m in the last 15 days or so.

According to a spokesman for the Lahore Division Administration, the teams sealed 119 industrial units and registered 31 FIRs against them for flouting emission control rules.

The spokesman said 76 brick kilns were also sealed in addition to imposition of Rs1.3m fine on their owners. He said sprinkling of water on 40 city roads has been increased too.
