Emily Callahan, a Doctors without Borders (MSF) nurse who was evacuated from Gaza during the current escalation has praised the Palestinian medical staff there for providing support and safety to the MSF’s foreign workers.
In an interview with CNN, she said that despite the MSF’s “national staff” being accused of being traitors, they stayed with them. “They said ‘you are family too, we’re not going anywhere’.”
“We would have died within a week without them. They are the only reason we are alive,” the nurse said about her Palestinian colleagues.
“When I say we would have starved to death without them, I’m not exaggerating.”
