MARDAN: The All Employees Association of the Abdul Wali Khan University here the other day protested against the vice-chancellor for following “anti-employees policies.”

The protesters were led by association chairman Muzammil Khan, president Adnan Saeed and general secretary Jawad Sangar and attended by scores of university employees.

The speakers said the university’s administration, especially vice-chancellor Dr Zahoorul Haq, should stop the exploitation and “financial murder” of employees.

They rejected the “scale cutting” move by the syndicate for 700 university employees and demanded a pay raise for staff members.

The speakers resented the decision to transfer 350 employees from the university’s main campus to Timergara campus and demanded its immediate withdrawal.

They complained about the denial of service structure to employees for the last 15 years.

The speakers claimed that the VC had no authority to call syndicate meetings and take policy decisions as his retirement was less than a month away.

They demanded inquiry by the FIA and anti-corruption establishment into the alleged Rs0.01 billion corruption in the university during the last three years.

The speakers urged the governor, chief minister and Peshawar High Court chief justice to take notice of the university’s issues for corrective measures.
