KOHAT: A police constable was martyred in a militant attack in Doaba area of Hangu district on Thursday.

The police said Siddiqullah was on routine duty in the afternoon when unknown militants opened fire at him. He died on the spot.

The Doaba area had remained a bastion of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan other militant groups.

The body of the martyred policeman was brought to the Hangu Police Lines, where his funeral prayers were offered in the evening.

DIG Kohat division Sher Akbar Khan, Hangu district police officer Nisar Ahmed Khan, Orakzai district police officer Silahuddin Kundi, officers of Frontier Constabulary and policemen were in attendance.

He was presented a gun salute, and officers placed floral wreaths on his coffin, which was later dispatched to his hometown in Orakzai district.
