KARACHI: Two persons were killed when an explosion occurred during welding work of a truck near Yousuf Goth in Baldia Town on Saturday, the Moachko police said.

South-DIG Syed Asad Raza described it as an accident and said that a welder and two labourers were involved in welding work of a truck at a shop located on Hub River Road.

There was no diesel in the truck’s tank. However, it was filled with gases and, apparently, the explosion took place due to accumulation of gases, which resulted in the death of two labourers, Ali and Bilal.

The owner of the welding shop had been identified but the truck owner was untraceable as the vehicle’s documents were not found.

The bodies were shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

The police were investigating the incident.
