CHARSADDA: A sports festival for girl students was organised in Charsadda for the first time in the history of the district.

The sports gala was arranged by ICMS Girls College Charsadda at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex. The event was inaugurated by district sports officer Mohammad Imran and Mohammadzai Union of Journalist president Faiz Mohammad. The ICMS College director and educationist, Hamdullah Jan and Principal Prof Abdul Ghani were also present on the occasion.

The students of ICMS College, Peace College, Al-Asad College, Tangi Girls College and other institutes participated in the sports competitions including tug-of-war, sack race, 100-metre race, volleyball, badminton, etc.

ICMS College grabbed first position in tug-of-war, Peace College won race completion and Al-Asad College clinched first position in sack race competition.

The winning teams were awarded trophies, medals, certificates and cash prizes by the ICMS College administration.

Speakers said on the occasion that organising sports festival was a welcome initiative. They said that it gave the students an opportunity to participate in healthy activities. They added that private colleges across the district should provide opportunities to students to participate in curricular as well as extra-curricular activities.

Appreciating the initiative, Mohammad Imran said that Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex was providing national and international level sports facilities to women in Charsadda.

ACCIDENT: A driver was killed and a passenger received injuries when a rickshaw collided with a truck on Khayali Bridge here.

The truck driver managed to escape from the spot after the accident. The driver of the rickshaw, Abid Gul, a resident of Chalghazi Baba, was killed in the accident. Sabihullah, a passenger, who was travelling the rickshaw, was seriously injured. Police registered a case and started investigation.
