PARIS: The Security Council’s special committee of seven today [Nov 14] formally approved the plan put forward by Dr Bunche, acting Mediator, for establishing truce lines and demilitarised zones in the militarised zones in Negeb, southern Palestine. The approval took the form of a verbal motion stating that they considered Dr Bunche’s plan “equitable” and fully in conformity with the Council’s resolution of Nov 4 calling on the Egyptians and “Israelis” to restore the truce in the Negeb area. Dr Bunche’s proposal will be sent to Egypt and “Israel” today. — News agencies
[Meanwhile, news agencies in Karachi report that] in a joint statement the special representatives of Mufti-e-Azam of Palestine say: “We have had the opportunity of meeting Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan yesterday (Friday [Nov 12]) and had a cordial talk with him concerning the present situation in Palestine. We found the Prime Minister, as we found H.E. Khwaja Nazimuddin, Governor-General of Pakistan sympathetically interested in the Palestine problem. We also appreciate the concern the people of Pakistan in general feel over the Palestine situation. …”
