RAWALPINDI: New Station Commander Brigadier Ahmed Nawaz was elected as the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) President on Friday during a board meeting.

After the oath-taking ceremony, the RCB approved the affiliation of Cantonment General Hospital (CGH) with the Prime Institute of Health Sciences (PIHS) and remarked that it would provide maximum health facilities to the local residents of cantonment areas.

During the board meeting with the new station commander, it was approved to install new LED lights on The Mall from Tariq Mehmood Chowk in front of General Headquarters (GHQ) to Race Course Park Square.

Also, the installation of new filtration plants at Jan Colony and Tench Bhatta by the Al-Khidmat Foundation was approved. As well as the purchase of an ambulance to transport bodies to the Rakh Dhamial graveyard was also permitted.

During the meeting, approval was also given to procure an automatic machine for the queue management system for the customer care branch of the civic body. The people will get a token and wait for their turn, which will be used in customer care buildings for death, birth certificates, and other problems that the civic body addresses.

Furthermore, approval was given to clean the main drain in Banaras Colony. Also, to hire 10 dumpers to lift solid waste from the garbage transfer station to the landfill site.

While talking to Dawn, elected member Hafiz Hussain Ahmed stated, “Elected members wanted to make proper standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Rakh Dhamial graveyard. The divisional administration of Rawalpindi provided 200 kanals of land for the graveyard to the cantonment board.”
