ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Monday reviewed cases of enforced disappearances at a meeting of the committee of ministers.

Separately, Chinese ambassador to Pakistan called on Mr Bugti in Islamabad on Monday.

According to the interior ministry’s media wing, caretaker Defence Minister retired Lt Gen Anwar Ali Haider and Law Minister Ahmed Irfan Aslam also attended the meeting. A policy formulation on the issue was also discussed in detail.

During the meeting with the Chinese envoy, the minister said Pakistan was ready to play proactive role for international cooperation to increase global security. The two sides also discussed matters of mutual interest including bilateral relations.

Mr Bugti said caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s recent visit to China will further strengthen cooperation in various fields.

He said all possible measures have been taken to ensure security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan. He added that terrorism is a challenge and “we have defeated it in the past and we will eradicate it completely in future as well”.
