PESHAWAR: Khwaja Nazimuddin, Pakistan’s Governor-General, today [Nov 20] appealed to the people of the North-West Frontier Province to play their part in building up Pakistan’s defence. The Governor-General emphasised that at this delicate hour the people of Pakistan needed unity. He called upon people ... to strengthen the country’s defence and maintain unity... . “It is the patriotic duty of every Pakistani to play its part in building up Pakistan’s defence.” He was replying to an address of welcome, presented to him by the Peshawar City Muslim League and other public bodies.

Referring to the food position in the province, he assured people that after six months there would not be any difficulty in any province in procuring foodgrains. Of the cloth shortage, the Governor-General said, “A big quantity of foreign cloth has already been imported and more consignments are pouring in. Therefore, I hope in the next few months cloth shortage will also be removed to a great extent.”

About Kashmir he said, “The Prime Minister has declared policy on Kashmir and we will follow it.” — Dawn Peshawar Correspondent
