KARACHI: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) on Wednesday condemned the appointment of a retired Karachi University teacher, Dr Nusrat Idrees, as a member of the syndicate on a seat reserved for representative of affiliated colleges.

“We condemn this decision as this syndicate seat is reserved for teachers associated with government colleges affiliated with KU. The KU vice chancellor has blatantly misused his powers and promoting nepotism on the campus,” SPLA chief Prof Munawwar Abbas said, adding that the association would pursue the matter with authorities concerned.

Only on Tuesday, KU Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Iraqi had appointed Dr Idress who currently heads a private educational institution after her retirement from KU.
