DERA GHAZI KHAN: Patrol police in Dera Ghazi Khan region foiled an attempt to smuggle goods worth Rs13m into Punjab on Thursday.

SSP Tanveer Ahmed Malik said the patrol police at Toumi Mor on the Dera-Quetta road received information about smuggling bid in the coal-laden truck.

The truck was intercepted and upon inspection, 360 sacks of betel nut, 148 sacks of china salt, 130 sacks of dry milk, 59 sacks of almonds and 31 sacks of cashew were found beneath the coal layer.

The total estimated worth of the seized goods was Rs13m and no customs duty had been paid on them.

It is worth mentioning that the smugglers had managed to cross three check posts of border military police, one post of Punjab Police and check posts of other relevant authorities.
