GUJRAT: Former PML-N lawmakers and party ticket-holders from Gujrat district have formally conveyed their reservations over the reports of seats adjustment by the party with PML-Q, at a meeting with the PML-N president and former prime minister Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore on Thursday.

The delegation was led by party’s Gujranwala division president and former MNA Abid Raza Kotla. Senior parliamentarians Nawabzada Ghazanfar Ali Gull, Mian Tariq Mehmood Dinga, Malik Jameel Awan, former Gujrat mayor Haji Nasir Mehmood and others were also part of the delegation.

According to sources, party president told the Gujrat delegation that the PML-Q chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain had supported the no-confidence motion against the PTI government beside voting in favor of PML-N candidate for the PM office at the time of crisis.

Sources said the party chief told the delegation that their concerns would be conveyed to Mian Nawaz Sharif.

It is learnt that some of the participants informed the party leader that the Pakistan People’s Party had suffered a big erosion by making seats adjustment with the PML-Q in Gujrat and now the PML-N should refrain from repeating the mistake.

The Gujrat PML-N chapter is of the view that it’s local cadres have long been facing the rule of PML-Q in one way or the other. They said any seat adjustment with such a party might harm the PML-N position in the district. — Waseem Ashraf Butt
