KOHAT: The Liaquat Memorial Women and Children Hospital has received a state-of-the-art hysteroscopy machine for the diagnosis of complicated womb diseases.

Medical superintendent Dr Hashim Bokhari told reporters on Friday that the costly machine was sent by Prof Naeema Utman of the Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar.

He said a team of doctors from Peshawar would provide training to the lady doctors on how to operate the machine.

Dr Madiha, a lady doctor, on the occasion said patients from the Kohat division as well as Kurram would now be able to avail the facility at their doorstep instead of going to Peshawar.

She said the machine would also help reduce workload on the Peshawar hospitals.

Meanwhile, the police on Friday recovered two drivers in miserable condition four days after they had been tied up with ropes at the Kotal top here by robbers after snatching their oil tanker at gunpoint.

However, the tanker developed a fault, and the robbers abandoned it on the road and fled, the police said.

Rescue 1122 media coordinator Jawad Afridi told Dawn that they had received an emergency call from the police that two elderly persons, who were in pretty bad condition as they didn’t have water and food for four days, needed to be provided with immediate treatment.

“We responded immediately and reached the mountaintop and found them in very bad condition as they injured their legs and arms while dragging themselves to get to the road. He said the rescuers provided them with first aid.

The drivers were identified as Nek Nawaz, 56, and Abdul Wali, 55, belonging to Lakki Marwat.

The police said the robbers stopped them at gunpoint at the hilly track, took them to the mountaintop and tied their hands and legs with ropes.

They said a passerby spotted them on Friday and informed the police.

The rescue official said the drivers were extremely dehydrated and had bleeding arms and legs.
