LAHORE: Punjab’s Board of Revenue (BoR) on Saturday reviewed the process of leasing government land for defence purposes and unanimously decided that the matter should be referred to the cabinet.

The BoR’s full board meeting chaired by Senior Member Nabil Javed discussed and approved 18 agenda items, while one agenda item was postponed.

The board also decided that all approved agendas would also be presented before the provincial cabinet for final approval.

The member colonies presented an agenda of giving land for the promotion of tourism. Mr Javed stressed the land would be used for a specific purpose and in case of violation it would be taken back.

Discussing another agenda item, the board said government land used by GM Textile Mills was approved to be included in the saleable table as well as decided revaluation of land.

The agenda for amendments in the Removal of Encroachment Ordinance was approved.

The board agreed that not only possession of government land would be vacated from the illegal occupants, but heavy fines could also be imposed.

As many as four agendas of the colonies department were approved through mutual consultation.
